All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

About Me – Last Updated 4-01-2013

meandburgerI’m sure there are many wondering why ol’ Jer is posting things other than photographs.

As at the top of my blog shows, there are my titles, and one being “My Photographs and More”.  A a part of that title says “and More”.

I may not be popular in any subject that title implies I will post, however, I’m not looking for popularity nor fishing for replies. “I AM that “I AM” nothing more.

Sometimes I wright personally what I feel and other times I post what my heart says is real or has good reason to believe is real. I learned a long time ago there is more than ample disinformation and untruths in the world dispersed by the ram that won’t nothing more than to lead the sheep to slaughter.

I take the word of no one, especially in poly-tics nor religion as truth. For within those institutions I have found the greatest untruths. Not by listening to anyone else but through research, study and thinking for myself.

If a red flag pops up I question it. In fact, there is very little I don’t question.

Calling on the governments and religions is like calling the fox, wolf and opossum to save your hens giving the preditors carte blanche to a free meal.

I refuse in any way to follow the ram and accept the mark of the sheeple.

If you are insulted by my personal update that is fine, for you have the same as I…free will choice and I don’t judge you on how you choose to excercise it.

I can promise you this though,  I care about every human being, animal, plant and rock. Yes, even the rock is an expression of loves creation and it too lives.

May each and everyone of you be blessed so much in all aspects of your lives it will defy your understanding…it will defy “ALL” understanding.

_____________________________________________________________

As stated below, I am an amateur photographer. I’ve always loved taking pics since “Moby Dick” was a minnow and the “Dead Sea’ was sick.

A few years back I bought a Canon Powershot A 460 and fell in love with macro photography.

I had taken a shot of a fuzzy caterpillar on a stick. I was holding the stick with my left hand and shooting with my right.

I held onto that photo and happened to run across an online photo contest which I had entered. I had titled the photo “Out On A Limb”, sent it in and was notified months latter of my winning.

Out On A Limb

I was beside myself because it was going to be published in a well known photography book.

I recieved a copy of the book in 2006 and lost it and everything I owned to a house fire.

That Canon just recently went bad and was over exposing all the shots. So I kinda give up on learning photography.

About two months ago I picked up a Canon Powershot S2 IS (which is still basically a point and shoot with a few more frills and thrills) for $50 in a pawn shop.

I was happier than a pig in slop. :)

So, I started my new adventure in photography determined to become a professional  at least by the time the “Dead Sea” healed.

I’m taking pics of everything and I mean everything and disappointment started to set in. Out of 10-20 photos, I’d get home to find out most if not all were out of focus. Most of the time I was lucky if I got one. I’ve read all kinds of tutorials and must admit it is a bit of a learning curve from standard point and shoot. I mean really, looking at all the controls for this and that I felt like I was sitting in the cockpit of a Boeing 747.

I have since come to terms with the fact that the Powershot S2 IS is about 5-7 years old, it may have lost it’s focusing ability. However, I have also determined that I have not lost that much expense wise in the cost of the camera. I also decided at least I will strugle and learn how to use all the bells and whistles as best as I can under the handicap I am working with. While I’m doing that, I will be saving up for a real DSLR.

By that time the “Dead Sea” will have healed and I will be able to jump into the drivers seat as a well seasoned propho.

Till next time, happy shooting.

Great photographer who knows the technique behind his art form! Thank you, Jerry, for bringing the SUNSHINE of nature and all things on our Mother Earth into focus for us! and besides this, he also offers some deep insights into the soul, with his very fine writing calling us to BE more than we perceive ourselves to be! I love your “Lilypad Crystal” photos by the way!

    April 21, 2013 at 6:15 PM

    • Thank you Norma. I have to add a wee bit of humor. In a couple of weeks I’ll be getting and Canon EOS. That will probably be like the Shuttle flight control panel to my current camera.

  6. Good morning, Jerry! OMG— I just read what you posted to Summer in response to advocating for peace, love., etc. OH! It was Beautiful–you said what I needed to hear so succinctly and clear! 7. Thanks so much for stopping by Mrs. City Boy and following! I used to have a Canon Powershot as well, and loved it! I don’t remember which version it was, but it was a point-and-shoot. Your “Out On A Limb” photo is really impressive — I can see why you won! It took me awhile to get to where 99% of my shots were not blurry with the camera I have now, but progress comes with lots of pictures and deleting of pictures, lol! Thanks again for the follow, and I will be following you (don’t be scared)!

    April 20, 2013 at 12:04 AM

    • The contest was won with a Canon PowerShot A460. The one I’m using now is a 6 year old used Canon PowerShot S2 IS. Hopefully by next weekend I’ll have a Canon EOS Rebel 1000D. As the Jeffersons would say, “I’m movin on up”. LOL. The “Out On A Limb was shot with my right hand (I’m left handed) and my left hand was holding the stick. Thank you for the compliment. Not scared because I’ll just follow you too. ;)

    • Thank you Melanee. There is no telling what you may find here but mostly good I hope. ;)

      March 31, 2013 at 10:15 PM

  12. You should also write… you have a lively and full of humor “style”!
I like Rufus… (I love animals) and I’m happy to realize that some humans can adopt any type of species in their home. We have adapted ourselves with a dozen of cats…
Serene Easter and a lot of joy with photography… :-) claudine

    March 30, 2013 at 4:17 AM

    • Thank you Giovannoni. I would write, however, I’m very opinionated, one that goes against the grain, I think for myself and not to much of that make for popular reading. I write things that are evoking and provoking and I tell it like it is and most don’t want to be caught with their pants down. ;) Rufus is a character and is now 30 pounds heavier than the photo and video.

      March 30, 2013 at 10:33 AM

  13. I remember that first photo. What a great pity you don’t have the book any more. I also battle like crazy to take macro shots. Yesterday, there was a beautiful butterfly and I took a dozen pics. Not one of them came out well. :( Good luck to you.

    March 30, 2013 at 2:29 AM

    • Thank you adinparadise. As the saying goes, “There was a reason for loosing the book:. However, I do still have the photo. We will master macro as long as we keep at it. What is discouraging though is, in the viewfinder they look sharp when you hit the button. You get home, look at it through the computer and have to hit delete. I feel your pain. ;)

      March 30, 2013 at 10:18 AM

      • Thanks, Jerry.

        March 30, 2013 at 10:21 AM

        • You’re very welcome. ;)

  14. Where is that bridge leading to?

    March 30, 2013 at 12:43 AM

    • Well Mary, actually not anywhere important. Just from one part of a city park to the other part of the park. Thank for visiting it and comment or in this case questioning.

      March 30, 2013 at 11:04 AM

  15. Ooh, I like this theme even better! Less busy…can highlight the photos better!

    March 28, 2013 at 2:55 PM

    • Thank you Julianne. I originally wanted something in black but at the time I didn’t see any I liked. This one to me is perfect. Nothing like like minds. ;)

  16. Hi Jerry, Susie sent me over from the party!!
I enjoyed some of your photos…I’m trying to figure out if Rufus is a pig or a deer!! Maybe I really need new glasses??? ;-)

    March 28, 2013 at 2:18 PM

    • Hi Denise, happy you accepted the invitation from Susie. HAHA! He is a pig. Click on his photo and you want need any glasses. He is our wild Black Russian Boar. He’s about 30 pounds heavier now. I will stop by your place and see whats happening.. ;)

      March 28, 2013 at 4:43 PM

    • Thanks a mil Chef for your visit, comment and compliment. The door is always open. I’m still wandering about the two cows? ;) LOL

      March 28, 2013 at 8:29 AM

      • We’re all wondering the same Jerry. Oh well, even animals have the freedom to do as they please.

        March 28, 2013 at 10:29 AM

        • AH HA!!!! Perfect answer. ;)

          March 28, 2013 at 10:32 AM

  18. No worries, I like your photo that’s why I am following your blog.

    March 25, 2013 at 12:06 AM

    • I really do appreciate that. I get little nervous about such because someone is always following me trying to get me to buy something..

      March 25, 2013 at 12:08 AM

      • You are welcome. I am not that kind of person who force people to buy something they don’t like. Anyway, have a great day ahead!

        • Thank you Hanzel ;)

          March 25, 2013 at 8:05 AM

    March 17, 2013 at 5:10 AM

    • Thank you so much sweet lady for the recognition. However, I don’t do those award things any longer. But I will do one better. When I see a photo of yours that I think deserves recognition I will reblog it. Hope you understand. ;)

      March 18, 2013 at 12:18 PM

  21. Really nice pictures! I love photography, but haven’t had time to learn how to do all the cool, creative things with them yet so mine are all raw. I’ll be looking around.. :D

    March 16, 2013 at 8:20 PM

    • Thank you Keli. Cool and creative? There is a lot to be said about simple B&W and you do a good job at that. I’m a longs ways from any pro, I promise. ;)

      March 16, 2013 at 11:01 PM

  22. The hairy caterpillar is great image Jerry. Also enjoyed your sense of humour in your blog and comments.

    March 14, 2013 at 6:04 AM

    • Thank you Jim. I actually dropped by your blog to see if you were real. You know, webbots have really evolved since the early days of color television. I had a little trouble deciding if you were real or a webbot and almost passed the chance to hit your follow button. However, some really beautiful graphs caught my Eye. At that very moment I decided you were real and hit “Follow”. ;)

      March 14, 2013 at 8:08 AM

  23. Hi Jerry,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Looks like I met a fellow photography enthusiast and learner…but it looks like you’re much ahead in the art. I got my DLSR only last August. My Beloved got upset when I didn’t touch it till after a week ;-) Since then it’s been hard to put it down. It’s got a lot of bells and whistles too which I’m only starting to figure out. Took some lessons years ago when I only had a point and shoot so a lot of it just went over my head. I admire your determination and I do think, as an amateur of course, that you have a good eye.

In the meantime, I hope you won’t mind if I take a look around :-)

    Thanks again.

    Warm regards,
    Mary

    March 11, 2013 at 9:53 AM

    • Mary, I’d be delighted for you to look around. I’m no more a professional photographer than the man in the moon. I have a Canon that has a fixed lens but have some what control over light metering, F/Stop, Aperture and ISO. So it’s hard for me to come up with a photo, that most in the professional world would ever look twice.

Hey! Maybe together we shall learn. ;)

      March 11, 2013 at 10:16 AM

  24. “I was happier than a pig in slop”, thats just how I felt when I got hold of a D90, its not mine but I can use it, which is good enough for me :D

    March 10, 2013 at 9:28 PM

    • You lucky dog you. ;)

      March 10, 2013 at 9:49 PM

  25. I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award details here http://chickenandtea.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/one-lovely-blog-award/

    March 6, 2013 at 11:22 AM

    • Thank you Gecko, I really do appreciate it but at this time I don’t have time to do it. The last time I did this I was told by the people I did the same for, they don’t do it or did not respond. Pleas do not take my not doing it personal because that would be far from the truth.

      March 6, 2013 at 2:16 PM

      • No worries! I usually don’t do them either. This one just didn’t seem as time consuming as some so I did it.

        March 6, 2013 at 6:11 PM

You know you love this photo and want to say something nice. Don't be bashful go ahead. I'll love you for it.
